Back to School Night

Our Back to School night will be held Thursday, August 23 at 6:30 pm. This is a great opportunity to come check out our classrooms, meet with our teachers and learn about our program. You might even be able to meet the little friend your child keeps talking about. We look forward to an awesome school year with your children and would love to see you for Back to School Night at Little Lights Preschool.

Why Little Lights Preschool This Fall?

Are you still deciding where to send your kiddo to preschool this Fall? We have a few spots still available that we're looking to fill for our Fall Semester in our 3's, 4's and 5's classes and here’s why we would love for you to please consider Little Lights!

Family-oriented, caring & loving! Since we’re a small school that is focused on family, our preschool families often create life-long bonds that continue well past pre-school years. Play dates, seasonal family activities and field trips are all part of the experience!

Low teacher to student ratio of 1:6! For every one teacher, six students receive personalized and individualized attention. We are able to provide caring instruction according to each student’s growth and development.

Small school and class sizes! With only one hallway and three classrooms, we believe that we can provide a safer, more personalized educational experience. The smaller class sizes allow our teachers and staff to be involved in all aspects of your child's development.

Chapel program! We’ve developed a sweet little chapel program meant for the children to relate to their everyday lives. We have daily chapel lessons in the classroom and weekly lessons in the church sanctuary.

Curriculum! Our educational curriculum is based on Zoo-Phonics, Touch Math, Science and creative projects.

Other fun and developmental activities!
We're focused on helping to develop social skills including listening, problem solving, following directions and paying attention. Oh, and lots of music and large muscle activities too!

To schedule a tour or reserve your spot please contact our director, Carol Matzkind at carol.matzkind@littlelightsturlock.org or (209) 668-2548.

Fall Preparation Underway

The school year is right around the corner and the staff at Little Lights Preschool is eagerly waiting for it to start! We’ve been busy planning activities, working on lesson plans and much more. Our teaching team plans to make this a fun and exciting school year for you and your children!

At Little Lights Preschool, we believe every student should receive personalized attention. Our class sizes have a low teacher-to-student ratio of 1:6! How do we make this work? By assigning two educators to co-teach every class. Miss Beth and Miss Priscila will be co-teaching the 3’s class, and the 4’s class will be taught by Miss Sandy and Miss Andrea.

We are also very excited about our new extended day. From 8 - 8:30 AM and 3:30 - 4 PM  we will be offering supervised open free play. We hope this will help to accommodate our busy parents!

It's Not Too Late to Support Little Lights Preschool in 2017!

Along with celebrating Jesus' birthday this time of year we are also excited to celebrate Little Light Preschool's birthday as well! With so many new friendships and exciting happenings around the school it's hard to believe that we have already been open 12 full months this January 2018.

We are so proud of our first year of school here at Little Lights. We’ve certainly spent important time loving, learning, playing and praying with our friends.

If you feel so moved and interested in making a donation at the close of this year, it would be very appreciated and the money would be used wisely. Donations help fund academic and extracurricular activities such as science experiments, outdoor play toys, art supplies and more. All monies raised goes directly back to the school to help cover these costs. Our school has steadily grown and thrives, but we could also use a little help as well.

As one new parent mentioned, “Little Lights really is heaven because it is small, loving and our son feels so safe."

Thank you to our generous donors thus far, we couldn't do it without you. To donate online simply click here on the website. Or to write a check please send it to Little Lights Preschool C/O The First United Methodist Church, 1660 Arbor Way, Turlock, CA. 95380

Interested in seeing how your generous donations are put to work? Please just let us know and we'll be happy to schedule a tour at the end of the school day. Thank you and Happy New Year!

We are loving, learning, playing and praying!

Little Lights Preschool Newsletter 4.26.17

Our darling preschool has been open for almost three months and we’ve been so blessed to welcome the community, meet new friends, grow and learn together. Our students have been hard at work learning shapes, colors, cooking, science projects and of course playing on the super-fun new outdoor play structure! Teachers Nicole Tucker and Nicole Gorostidi have been hard at work with the students, and it is truly a blessing to experience the growth of our Little Lights children. We are loving everyday and feel so lucky to have such a wonderful Little Lights community supporting us. Thank you!

Meet Our New Director, Carol Matzkind!

Carol Matzkind comes to us with a wealth of preschool experience and a very strong background in Christian preschool education. She worked with St. Paul’s Episcopal School in Modesto for more than twenty-five years. She was a teacher for her first five years and then took over as Director for the next twenty years. In March of 2016, Carol helped start Grace Academy Christian Preschool and became its Director, after St. Paul’s Episcopal Church had to close its preschool because of unrelated difficulties. Carol has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and has completed additional studies in Early Childhood Development. She is married, lives in Turlock and has three grown children. Carol can be reached by email at carol.matzkind@littlelightsturlock.orgWelcome Carol!

Spring has sprung and Summer is just around the corner! Time for some fun! Our four-week camp starts May 30th and runs through June 30th for 3's, 4's and 5 year olds. The curriculum will be an extension of our year-round “play based” curriculum, while including summertime fun activities with outdoor water activities, science experiments, cooking, daily art and music. Pricing per month is $380 for a 5-day half day and $225 for 3-day half day camp from 8:30AM-12:30PM. If you are looking for afternoon care it is available from 12:30-3:30PM. We would not be able to complete this outreach mission without the generosity of our congregation and surrounding community. We are offering two ways to participate. The first is our Noah’s Ark inspired “Animal Wall Kingdom” Donor Wall, which will be painted soon! Generous donations will be acknowledged as part of our hallway décor with an animal painted and named in your honor. The second is our Helping Hand Donation.
